Chapter 1: Intro to Intergalactic Myths & Legends 120

Intergalactic Myths & Legends 120 was the post popular class at Universe City. Universe City was the most popular college on Ahr Wolford's planet, Caikwok. Caikwok was the most popular planet in it's solar system, not to mention the only one inhabited. However, Ahr and the rest of the people of Caikwok had known for some time of the existence of alien life. That's why Universe City was so popular.
As a college, Universe City was located at Caikwok's magnetic north pole, and therefore, had a very good insulation system. But the reason everyone who was anyone went to Universe City was because they had the best inter-universal lifeform studies courses, including everyone's favorite: Intergalactic Myths & Legends 120. The only problem with Intergalactic Myths & Legends 120 (IML 120) was that it was a very hard course. Only the most ambitious of students passed it. This was a problem because everyone taking it initially thought IML 120 was going to be a cakewalk, so to speak, which brings us back to Ahr Wolford.
Ahr was a second-year student at Universe City majoring in, of course, Intergalactic Myths & Legends. As a result, he took IML 120, as every IML major had to. However, unlike most students in IML 120, Ahr actually did well in the course. As the semester neared it's end, Ahr was surprised that nobody, even the failing students, had dropped the course.

One day, Ahr went to his class, and he noticed the various second-year students who failed the course the first time seemed a bit happier than normal. "What's going on, guys?" Ahr asked one of them.
"We learn about the Abominable Spaceman today!" a student said.
   "Really? Who's that?"
"You got to be kidding me," the student said. Ahr stared at him. "The Abominable Spaceman," the student continued, "is the reason why we all take this course. It's the most popular myth on the planet!"
"Oh, right, That Abominable Spaceman," Ahr said, and remembered what they were talking about. Horrible Acts, a dramatization of the Abominable Spaceman's life, was one of Ahr's favorite movies. He then got to his seat in the class. The teacher emerged from a door near the front of his room and began the class immediately by writing "THE ABOMINABLE SPACEMAN" on the chalkboard.
"The Abominable Spaceman is the most popular myth on this planet, in fact, in the whole solar system (which isn't hard since Caikwok is the only inhabited planet). I'm sure you all have seen at least three movies based on the Abominable Spaceman." Everyone in class who had, which is everyone in class, raised their hand.
"If you'll all please turn to page 300 in the Josbek book," he said, and waited for the class to do so. "The Abominable Spaceman was born about 600 cycles ago with the name 'John Crichton.'" The teacher wrote "Born as: John Crichton" on the chalkboard. "They say that when he came out, the septic system in the hospital burst! Anyway, he first made a mark for himself in the Battle of Kretland River when he single-handedly convinced a horde of Veneks to slaughter dozens of nurses and children. The memorial that stands there now honors the fallen nurses and curses the Abominable Spaceman. After that, he dropped out of sight for about 500 cycles, no doubt planning his next move.
"About a hundred-and-fifty cycles ago, the Abominable Spaceman was cruising around the universe and decided on a whim to murder a Peacekeeper captain's brother, who was also a Peacekeeper. As a result, the Peacekeepers sent out several command carriers after him, all commanded by Captain Bialar Crais." The teacher wrote "Captain Bialar Crais" on the chalkboard. "Captain Crais chased the Abominable Spaceman all over what was then referred to as the Uncharted Territories until they met near an unknown location. The people who survived the catastrophe said that the Abominable Spaceman blew up an entire planet, killing all of it's inhabitants. These reports came from persons living several planets away, who saw the blast with their telescopes."
The class continued on in the same way for another 40 minutes (they adopted this term from the Abominable Spaceman because everyone agreed that it was pretty stupid to not have any term of measurement between the small "microt" and the large "arn."), and Ahr just relaxed for the rest of the day, as he had no homework and that was his last class. Ahr lived in a dorm near the edge of Universe City, next to a dude named Clark. Ahr managed to get one of the few rooms in his building that didn't come with a free, annoying, incompatible, angry roommate.
Around one o'clock in the morning, Ahr finally got used enough to the booming noise that Clark considered to be music to fall asleep. Around 2, he awoke with a start, and heard voices in his room. "People lie," the voices say. "People bend the truth to suit their own egos. Do not ever believe what you hear from anyone, unless it's from your own mind." Ahr turned the light next to his bed on, and the room was bathed in brightness. Ahr could see no source for the mysterious voices, though. "If you think you know something is true, it isn't. Question everything." Ahr realized that these words were coming out of the alarm clock-slash-radio that he kept next to his bed. He turned the radio off, and went back to sleep. Luckily, the batteries in Clark's stereo had died, or something, and the music was gone.
Ahr dreamed that a robed figure, awash in darkness, was holding a big book out in front of Ahr. He looked and the title read, "The Truth About The World You Know," and Ahr wondered what it all meant. "This book tells the truth about your history," the dark figure boomed, though Ahr didn't see any indication of his mouth moving. "And not just your history, but the history of the Universe." The man turned the book onto it's side and showed it to Ahr. "The Truth About The World You Know," it read, "by Ahr Wolford. Published by the United Front." Then Ahr woke up.
Upon waking, he knew what the dream meant. He said to himself--he had a habit of that--"I must go and seek out the Abominable Spaceman and find out the truth." He then got up, dressed, and went down to the cafeteria in his dorm building, where he met a group of his IML 120 friends. He told them of his dream with all seriousness, and they laughed in his face, as friends do. Ahr shrugged it off, though, and went his classes.
