Volume 9: I

International Business Magic is trying to transfer the "safety net" properties of GNUSTO to a new spell that would work on magic potions.

The Implementors are the subject of much religious and philosophical discussion. Ancient legends tell of the creation of the world by these Implementors, who directed the running of great engines which produced this world and others strange and wondrous, as a test or puzzle for others of their kind. These legends go on to state that these beings stand ready to aid those entrapped within their creation. It is known that the Implementors are a race of minor deities who dwell on the Ethereal Planes of Atrii. Implementors do not discourage the legends that the world was created by them as a plaything, but the idea has been hotly criticized by the magician-philosopher Helfax, who says "A creation of this kind is morally and logically indefensible, and the theory is colossal claptrap and kludgery."

Despite these remarks, worship of the Implementors has become quite common. Four Implementors in particular, Dave Lebling, Marc Blank, Brian Moriarty, and Steve Meretzky, also known as The Bearded Oracle of Yonkers, are all extremely well-loved by the populous. In fact, another part of the legend calls the four Implementors mysterious magi who live in the lands beyond the borders of the world. A fifth Implementor has recently become the talk of various towns throughout the East- and Westlands, named Laird Malamed. This mysterious fifth Implementor is rumored to have inspired Syovar the Strong to conquer the Eastlands. All that is specifically known about these deities is that their ample free time is spent on costly luncheons where gossip and sweet nectars flow freely.

In 966 GUE it was discovered that the Implementors were once in possession of the fabled Coconut of Quendor, until it was stolen by an Ur-Grue. This fact gives added credence to the Legend of Wishbringer, that tells of a knight slain by the Implementors in search of that Coconut.

Legend has it that the Totemizer™ has, as one of it's destinations, a portal to a section of the Etherial Planes that is housed exclusively by Implementors.

Infocom is a leading manufacturer of magic scrolls, potions, and Infotater games. One of their most popular products was the Home Sorceror's How-To Library, Volume One of which was the Build-Your-Own Medieval Village set. This set has been advertised in the Popular Enchanting magazine.

During the Reign of the Grand Inquisitor, Infocom was purchased by Frobozz Electric.

Infotaters, which popular legend says were invented by Entharion the Wise, are the best way to store data ever discovered. Borphee Infotaters, Inc. is a chief producer of infotaters, including the "Field Guide to the Creatures of Frobozz."

Inquisition: The Inquisition was started near the end of 883 GUE by a group of fanatics who believed that the Curse of Megaboz was caused as a direct result to everyone in the Empire being alive. Their brilliant solution: Kill everyone in the Empire. Needless to say, it didn't really work out.

But after the Fall of the Empire, in 884 GUE, the Inquisiton fell under the control of Syovar the Strong, who reformed the whole thing. Syovar turned the Inquisition from a group of people-hating zealots into a group of magic-hating zealots. These members were headed up by the Grand Inquisitor, who only answered to Syovar. With Syovar's help, the Inquisition spread across the Eastlands, where it eventually became the dominant religion of that region by 933 GUE. Syovar and the Inquisition enlisted the help of the famous General, Thaddeus Kaine, to defest a rogue Enchanter and military leader named Ellron. Ellron was aligned with the Enchanters Guild, and he was trying to increase the use of magic in the Empire. In 949 GUE, a pilgrim somehow managed to infiltrate Irondune and transmit codes to Kaine's army, which enabled them to defeat Ellron.

The resulting win insured Syovar the success of his rule, and of the Inquisition. Following the destruction of magic in 966 GUE, the Inquisition set it's sights on the Westlands. In 972 GUE, Syovar the Strong died, and his son Syovar II succeeded him. Syovar II was much more radical, and was a card-carrying member of the Inquisition, and he organized General Kaine's military forces (since he died in 949 GUE, his army became property of the Inquisition) and conquered Antharia. He then intended to continue on to conquer the Westlands, but a rogue cannonball put an end to that in 997 GUE. Syovar III, the last in the line, took power.

With Syovar III running the show, the Inquisition and it's massive army went forth and conquered the Westlands. They had occupied every port, town, and province by 1033 GUE. And this is where Mir Yannick enters the picture.

Yannick was an employee of FrobozzCo., International, and also a member of the Inquisition. While there, he uncovered a strange machine in the ruins of Flatheadia: The Totemizer™. The Totemizer™ discovery was important enough to result in a massive promotion within the halls of the Inquisition for Yannick. He saw an opportunity, and decided to climb the corporate ladder, so to speak. By 1047, Yannick had become the Grand Inquisitor. Yannick was much more of an anti-magic radical than any of the line of Syovar, and Syovar III got worried. He saw Yannick as a threat to his cause, and decided to try to end the Inquisition, but Yannick murdered him before he could do anything. With that, Yannick became the King of Zork, but he preferred the "Grand Inquisitor" title.

The Inquisition,, under Yannick's control, integrated their old "kill everyone in the Empire" philosophy with their more-modern "Totemize all magical creatures" philosophy. This meant that anyone who the Inquisition believed was magical, or was close to magical, would be Totemized and discarded. This includes screen legend Antharia Jack, who was almost Totemized in 1067 GUE.

The Inquisition came to it's final and abrupt end on 35 Frobuary™ 1067 GUE, when a former Frobozz Electric salesman managed to knock Yannick off of the Flathead Mesa, and bring magic back to the Empire.

Inquizivision is a "radical new mind-numbing technology" invented by the Grand Inquisitor and Frobozz Electric. The first demonstration of Inquizivision was held on 35 Frobuary™ 1067 GUE, but was interrupted by the fall of the Inquisition. The only remaining copy of Inquizivision is stored in an incredibly secure safe in New Flatheadia.

Those who were there would tell you that the Grand Inquisitor intended to debut Inquizivision with a feature production called Rock Climbing, and it was scheduled to be followed by another feature called Sandstorm.
